What's included

Everything you need to record

All the tools for a live recording session — from first take to final file — in one place. Both the hosted and self-hosted versions include every feature.

🎙
Local recording, full quality

Each participant's microphone is captured in the browser before any WebRTC compression — raw, high-quality audio per person, always.

🔀
Separate tracks per participant

Every person gets their own .webm file. Chunks upload to the server live as you record, so nothing is lost if a connection drops.

📡
WebRTC peer-to-peer audio & video

Live audio and video travel directly between participants — the server only handles signaling, never your media streams.

🎵
Soundboard

Upload and trigger audio clips during a live session — intros, outros, sound effects, ad bumpers. Clips can be saved to a shared server library or kept local.

📋
Prep Notes

A separate workspace for building episodes before recording. Upload sources, scrub and timestamp video clips, OCR text from images, and write shared or personal episode notes.

💬
Live chat & screenshots

Pass notes and timestamps between participants in real time. Capture screenshots from Prep Notes video and pin them for quick reference during recording.

🎨
Custom branding & theming

Set a custom name, logo, accent color, and background. Every connected participant sees the update live — no refresh needed.

🔌
Plugin system

Drop a folder into plugins/ and it's picked up automatically. Plugins can add API routes, WebSocket handlers, and sidebar tabs in the studio.

🔐
Role-based access

Three roles — Host, Member, Guest — each with their own password. Guests can join and record without access to settings or other participants' files.

How it works

Common questions

Quick answers

A few of the most common questions. See the full FAQ for more detail.

Does audio go through your servers?

No. Live audio and video travel directly between participants over WebRTC — peer to peer. The server only handles signaling (telling participants how to connect to each other) and stores the recorded audio chunks you upload. At no point does live audio stream through the server.

What's the difference between the hosted and self-hosted versions?

The studio software is identical. The hosted plan means we provision and maintain the server for you — you sign up, get a URL, and start recording. Self-hosting means you deploy the open-source code to your own server (a $5–10/month VPS is plenty) and manage it yourself. Both give you full control over your recordings.

Do guests need to create an account?

No accounts at all. Access is password-based — you share the Guest password with whoever is joining. They open your studio URL in a browser, enter the password, and they're in. Nothing to install, no sign-up required.
